Sankhya, the Mathematics Society of Miranda House has started it’s alumnae network. We’ve interviewed the alumnae from our department, asking them some of the common doubts that students have for a particular career choice. Our first career option is MBA.
We are incredibly grateful to Stuti Sinha, Batch of 2019 for answering the queries.
MBA

CAT/Entrance : 1. When is the best time to start preparing for entrances? How long does effective CAT preparation take? Ans) Preparation time depends upon the student and how efficiently the he/she studies. But in general, 6 months are good enough. 2. Are there any tips and tricks to crack CAT? Will the DU syllabus help in CAT exams? Ans) Main advice would be to give mock exams. Just keep working on mock tests, that’s the best way to go about it. 3. Is it better to pursue MBA from India or abroad? How to crack B-school entrances abroad? Ans) India or abroad, if you want to go out, you better have a work experience otherwise it’s useless. Good B-schools usually require work experience. 4. How many times should I attempt entrances if I don’t clear them in one go? Any disadvantages of attempting entrances multiple times? Ans) You can give entrances as many times you want to. But make sure that if you have a gap year, you better do something during that gap year, could be internships or some certifications etc. Internships: 1. How should I contact companies for internships? Ans) About internships, use internshala application or similar sites and use your own personal contacts if possible. Miscellaneous: 1. Are there any recommended tuition centers for CAT coaching? Ans) About tuition centres, I would recommend to register for the mock aimcats/tests. Give them regularly and analyse your results. You can register for T. I. M. E. and Aimcat. 2. How do you maximize the utility of three years of college for successful MBA preparation? Ans) For maximizing utility of 3 years, I would suggest you to keep your grades up, concepts clear, do internships or online courses and join college societies.
